The 2019 Nationals Gala invites you to party with a purpose!

Aux Dog Theatre Nob Hill: 2116, 3011 Monte Vista Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106

Come celebrate the talent of New Mexico’s brightest Speech and Debate competitors with an evening of music, dancing, food and drink, and special performances by the students.  A silent auction will give businesses and the community a chance to support our students’ success.

Every year New Mexico qualifies upwards of 40 students for the National Speech and Debate Tournament, the largest academic competition in the world.  New Mexico has a lot to be proud of!  We’ve had national finalists for the Student of the Year award, finalists in individual events, and recently were thrilled to bring home first place in the nation for Worlds Debate.

Every student requires roughly $1,500 to attend the week-long tournament, which will be in Dallas this year.  As you can imagine, this cost can be prohibitive to many of our champions.

The New Mexico Speech and Debate Foundation is dedicated to ensuring that everystudent who qualifies for the National Tournament is able to compete. We believe in a future for our league where no student is denied access to opportunity because of funding.

All donations and ticket purchases will directly impact New Mexico’s Speech and Debate students.  You can support New Mexico’s best students on their path to national success while enjoying an evening of wonderful music and food with friends.

All in-kind donations to the NMSDF are tax deductible. All other donations are tax deductible upon request. Please contact me personally for more information.

“Speech and Debate has been a tremendous experience for me. Not only has it brought me out of my shell and improved my speaking skills, but it has also provided me
with a platform to express myself.”

“Speech and Debate has left the biggest impact on my high school career.
It has been my vehicle to discover myself as a person. This loving community has been a place where I’ve found some of my best friends and I will never forget the role it has played in my growth as a student, a scholar, and a human.”

-Huzefa Saria (Class of ’19)

“Before Speech and Debate, I could barely go into a conversation with any confidence in myself. After doing debate, I can speak in front of anyone with confidence.”
-Johannes Bauer (Class of ’21)

“Speech and Debate has taught me that even a single voice can inspire change.”
-Carolyn Wang (Class of ’19)
